Automatic Audio Level

I am shooting in P mode with the AUDIO LEVEL display display set to ON. I played with the Joystick to adjust the audio level. Now there is always the letter "M" left to the audio level display bar. Is it always the case?

Is there a way to set the Audio Level back to Auto instead of Manual in P mode?

To restore the microphone to automatic, go into CAMERA mode.

Press the joystick button in, and press downward until the picture of the microphone appears.

Once the microphone appears press joystick in the up direction. the <M> should vanish, pressing up again will bring up manual mode (when in manual use left and right joystick movements to adjust the microphone)

Bitty, thanks for the instructions. Now it's back to Auto mode. I looked around the manual and didn't see it.
