I've been creeping around these forums for months as a total lurker. I finally got around to making an account in the last few weeks.

First of all I want to say thank you to everyone in the community that has taken the time to share their experiences in every one of these different forums.

I have filmed shorts, a couple of simple commercials and product reviews in standard definition over the last three years. Nothing fantastic - and made the jump from SD to HD very recently.

Yesterday my first HV30 arrived with twoneil adapter, 35mm lense, etc...etc...I'm very excited and have converted my whole suite to HD. My crew was filming our first full length feature in SD and with this conversion we are very excited based on the workshops we have had in the last few weeks.

We are shooting with a Canon XHA1 primarily but now using my HV30 to support the more artistic shots.

This site has been greatly helpful so as way of introduction and thanks! Hello.

Hi mfrantz, and welcome to the forum!

We are shooting with a Canon XHA1 primarily but now using my HV30 to support the more artistic shots.

I've always felt those cameras complement each other nicely. Considering one is single-CMOS and the other 3-CCD, they can be matched surprisingly well, and each does certain things better than the other. Nice that cheap HVs can serve as playback decks for their more expensive cousins, too.
