Avoiding Spam

I have noticed, that some people mention their e-mail address in their posting. I know, this forum is not open all hours, you should enlist to be able to read anything.
But is it just me, being so paranoia, when I say, I would not do that?
If f.i. I had something for sale. So I would gratefuly expect your payment, by Paypal. Than I would invite buyers to PM me their e-mail address. I could return their mail, thus decoding my e-mail secret.

When people mention their email, I do try to edit the post and change it:

from
worley@filmonfilm.co.uk
to
worley_at_filmonfilm.co.uk

(and no, that is not my email address!)
