i wouldn't really use a USB drive for editing. It's fine for TimeMachine, though.

I paid 120 euros including tax for my WD 2TB (not counting our horrible 22% tax, that would be about the same in dollars), but it's USB 3.0, so a bit more "future-proof". OTOH, I paid about 170 euros for a 2TB FW800 just six months ago.
