Rule 1:
NO IMAGE HOSTING ON EXTERNAL SERVERS.
Images for the games need to be ATTACHED to the post, and thus uploaded to our server.
Rule 2:
TWO GUESSES PER PERSON PER POSTED PICTURE!!! Those two guesses are not allowed to be in the same post, NOR in a consecutive post.
I.e. you can post one guess, then have to wait for someone else to post: your second guess is not allowed to be immediately following your first guess.
Rule 3:
The WINNER of the game can start a new game IN A NEW THREAD.
NO ONE ELSE (unless yielded so by the winner).
Rule 4:
Once there's a winner, PLEASE post the correct name into the thread (spelled correctly,
and capitalized correctly, and not in italics or bold face.)
Rule 5:
The correct title format is: "Game" / space / "#" / number.
Example: " Game #12" (without the ")
(no space between the # sign and the number!)
Rule 6:
These complete rules (1 to 6) have to be copy&pasted into each new game's first post.
OK, here we go... hints will follow later!
PS: Thanks for the thumbs-up, fellow gamers!

No.
Hint: Four big-name stars. Really big name stars...
Can you identify an actor by his nostrils? Here's your chance:

I know it's either Harrison Ford or Mel Gibson...

I know it's either Harrison Ford or Mel Gibson...
Your certainty almost guarantees it's neither.
My guess: Goldfinger
Janke
2010 October 2nd, 02:41
Goldfinger? No way - haven't you ever seen Connery's hairy front?
Next picture, and a new hint:
One of those four big-name stars got an Academy Award not long ago.

Casino?
Janke
2010 October 2nd, 03:39
No, but here's a convoluted hint for you:
One of the stars in that movie played in a movie that one of the four aforementioned stars also played in, but that movie isn't this movie... :hv20-smilie84:

No guesses? One more hint:
Two of those four aforementioned big-name stars have died.
A new screenshot will be posted in a few hours. It will soon get easier, the idea is that even someone who hasn't seen the movie will be able to guess correctly.

Slow day, today...
As promised, here's the next screenshot.
One more hint, too: The death of one of the players caused quite a stir...
More pics & hints tomorrow morning, GMT.

12 Angry Men
can't be that...shot in the dark here...
In The Heat of The Night?

None right. 12 Angry Men was black&white, to boot... but as a hint: It does put you in the right decade!

The Slender Thread?

No.

Hmmmm - is it that difficult? This film is a classic, in many ways...
Looks like you need another screenshot, and a hint:
This movie is based on real-life events (but with certain changes, as always)... Also, the same "true story" was used in another movie, made some 20 years earlier.

Slow day again?
This is not meant to be this difficult (or have people just been enjoying nice weekend weather?)
Here's a screenshot of one of the major players. Pretty unsharp image, but can you recognize the fuzz - one of the four "big stars" getting smacked?
Hint: There is quite an obvious hint in the above paragraph.

Aviator?

That looks like John Wayne smacking Robert Stack - again!!!! Only this time they're not flying an aeroplane.... :hv20-smilie84:
Just an idle observation, Janke.... I'm not a contender in this game.
This is a brain-buster so far.

This is a brain-buster so far.
That is indeed my intention. :hv20-smilie84:
(All those hints will be thoroughly explained when this game is finished...)
Next screenshot will be up within 6 hours.

Here are two screenshots, one from the opening title sequence, and another from the end.
Hint: German-born director.
If this doesn't help, I'll just have to show more star faces...

One more hint before bedtime:
Tarantino (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quentin_Tarantino), Fassbinder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainer_Werner_Fassbinder), von Trier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lars_von_Trier) and Almodóvar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_Almod%C3%B3var) have all praised the director's work - nowadays (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lars_von_Trier)considered masterpieces of irony, contrary to the original reception, when his films were panned by the critics...
New pics and hints next morning, GMT time.

Finally! Huey did it - it's indeed
Written on the Wind
Here are the explanations to clarify all those hints (am I being too educational, here?):
# means post number
#3 - the four big stars were Rock Hudson, Lauren Bacall, Robert Stack and Dorothy Malone.
#6 - Lauren Bacall received an Oscar in 2009.
#8 - Sharon Stone played in Casino. She was also in Basic Instinct, as was Dorothy Malone.
#9 - Rock Hudson & Robert Stack are dead, but the old gals still hang on...
#10 - Hudson died in 1985, one of the first celebrity deaths from AIDS.
#15 - The original 12 Angry Men was made in the 1950s.
#18 - Based on the life of millionaire Zachary Smith Reynolds (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zachary_Smith_Reynolds). (The 1935 film was "Reckless", starring Jean Harlow.)
#19 - The "fuzz" is Robert Stack. Remember the "Untouchables" TV series where he played Eliot Ness - the ultimate "fuzz", wouldn't you agree? :hv20-smilie84:
# 23 - Directed by Douglas Sirk, originally Hans Detlef Sierck, born 1897 in Hamburg, Germany to Danish parents.
I couldn't imagine this would be so difficult, I almost thought I'd have to divulge Malone's Oscar and Golden Globe awards...
Here are the rest of the screenshots:

I suspected it was either Frank Sinatra or Robert Stack.
Excellent game, Janke!!

Good job, Janke. It's well before my time, but I enjoyed solving it by following the hints. Now I'm destined for dinner-party stardom with my knowledge of German-born movie directors.
Next game up soon.
