2010 August 27th, 01:55
...no I'm just typing on google "White Horse Girl Disney HELP ME!!!"
Janke
2010 August 27th, 02:26
That's the best thing with this game - it's educational when you finally learn the answer, and it teaches you to google! ;)
I'll let you all ponder for a while - a new pic coming up late in the evening (GMT)...

2010 August 27th, 16:22
Aren't we only allowed two guesses?
Timbit
2010 August 27th, 16:24
Two guesses each picture. Someone has to post before your second guess.
Pinocchio?
Janke
2010 August 27th, 16:37
Nope.
Did you see a prince & princess in Pinocchio? I didn't... ;)
Hint: Backtrack a bit, and check what I've said, and also what I haven't said...
New pic coming tomorrow morning, GMT.

I must admit, it was very clever not putting any water photos.
Janke

No, it is not Mermaid! So keep guessing...

No... Are you going to go through the entire list of Disney features? ;)
You can find it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney_animated_features
Damn, this is a tough one, Janke!! I'm beginning to think we may be looking at something from the Silly Symphonies era here. Almost certainly an animated Short, rather than a feature.
But which one.....?
Janke
2010 August 28th, 02:26
It is a feature, running time is well over one hour. It was pretty popular, too, at the time of its release.
I think the game rules even require that it should be a feature, originally shown in movie theaters. (Even I would have difficulties recognizing all animated shorts!)
I'm really surprised that no-one has guessed correctly, yet. I actually feared the second picture would have clinched it...
Hint: I've been a little devious in some of my answers & comments, but I haven't told any untruths.
Lawrence189
2010 August 28th, 02:53
so it's not aladdin?
Janke
2010 August 28th, 03:06
Aladdin? Not a terribly bad guess, but it's not. (I would already have announced you winner if it had been... ;))
There are no birds like the ones in post #26 in Aladdin. The other pictures do remind you of some scenes in that film, though. The moonlit balcony, the drowning scene, yes, even a prince on a white horse might fit - but, no. Also, the graphic style of backgrounds and characters in Aladdin is very different from what we have here.
Am I the only animation buff on this forum? I'll have to start showing easier screenshots, soon...
Bear with me, it's all very educational! :hv20-smilie84:

I know what it is. Someone give an answer quick!

I know what it is. Someone give an answer quick!
Alright, Lawrence, just to give you a shot. I'm going to "guess" that it's not even a Disney, but a Disney emulator, maybe Fleischer...
Jim E
2010 August 28th, 03:29
At the risk of incurring The Wrath of One, I'll say "Gulliver's Travels", so that Lawrence can have his turn. Since I haven't actually proposed an answer to any of the pictures yet. I've only speculated, and that's not the same as guessing.
That okay, Mal? :)

Thanks Krute. Pocahauntaus is my last guess for the night.

2010 August 28th, 03:42
Thanks Krute. Pocahauntaus is my last guess for the night.
You're welcome, Lawrence.
(On reflection, I'm beginning to think I may have got it right. Lots of things fit.)
Anyway, may the best man win.
Janke
2010 August 28th, 09:11
Krute got it right! It is indeed
Gulliver's Travels
- made by the Fleischer Studio in 1939. They started to make it when they noticed what a success "Disney's Folly", i.e. Snow White, became in 1937, and they made it in only one third of the time that it took for Disney - and, unfortunately, it shows! The animation is mediocre, a lot of it (all of Gulliver) is rotoscoped from live action...
I do recommend that you get a DVD (the entire movie may even be available on the web, since it is now in the public domain - Paramount's copyright has lapsed) and look at it closely. Compare it critically with Snow White - the Fleischers stole ideas, layouts, even actual animation movements from Disney's success. Gabby and most of the little people are obvious rip-offs of the dwarfs...
Note that I never said it was a Disney picture - it was "just assumed" by most... :hv20-smilie84:
Here are the rest of the screenshots, as you can see, it would have become easier very soon:

all the wasted time...
Janke
2010 August 28th, 15:24
Hey, you learned something about a movie you didn't know... Hardly wasted, I'd say! :hv20-smilie84:
Jim E
2010 August 28th, 19:43
Thank, Janke. I agree some of the characters were very much clones of Disney's, and even some of their actions are eerily identical to the various, mannerisms, flourishes, and eccentricities displayed by the Disney templates.
Ah, well, nothing succeeds like success, they say. And imitation is the most genuine compliment, etc etc..
Jim E
2010 August 28th, 19:48
all the wasted time...
No, man. This is a game, and that's what games are for - wasting time. Or, at least, spending time frivolously. And anyway, as Janke says, we all learned something. You learned about a notable example of classic animation, and I learned that Janke has a very enviable DVD collection!
Now, I must admit I did know I was right, so I put the exta gem together while waiting for the judge's decision.
Coming up.
Jim E
2010 August 28th, 19:49
Damn! That's "the extra game" together....
Janke
2010 August 29th, 01:38
Well, if your new game is difficult, and you post a lot of screenshots before anybody gets it right, it sure is a "gem" ! ;)
