Any ideas about mounting some type of telescoping pole or crane to a tripod to get a camcorder up high (ie., bird's nest)? Thanks.

Yes, but I was thinking of something more along the lines of DIY; that gizmo is gorgeous and expensive (ditto for Katie). Thanks for the reply. Anyone have any DIY ideas?

For DIY solutions, I recommend the book Killer Camera Rigs You Can Build (http://www.dvcamerarigs.com/index.html). It has step-by-step photo illustrated instructions for a couple of cranes that would work, and the "Touch of Evil Cam" is a rig to fly your camera from helium balloons! :hv20-smilie77:
