I am filming my first short at the start of April. I was planning on using my hv20 for it. Then today I had the opportunity to help out an established local DoP on a documentary of his, opeerating his HPX300. Now the idea of using my HV20 for them film feels...quaint.

I am grateful for the chance to work with him today. Not only for the chance to try out a killer camera, but to see how he worked both on and off the camera. I learned a lot just watching him. Getting to pick his brain over lunch was the icing on the cake.

Lessons learned - don't try gear that you can't adore to buy, I will drive you mad:hv20-smilie01:
- take any chane you can get to work with established pros. Whether you get paid or not, it's worth the time.

Now I need to decide what to do for my short. rental DVX200 kits are pretty reasonable around here. I may break down and get one.

The HPX300 really is a great camera. The HPX170 is great as well. one of my top choices if I were to get a new prosumer cam. That and the EX1.
