View Full Version : Where is the hacked firmware?

When the Canon Digital EOS 300D (Digital Rebel) SLR was released, it was not long afterwards that some Russian software gurus modified the firmware to allow greater manual control of the camera. So you would think someone would have (may be) working on un-locking some of the HV20s exposure controls in the firmware.
Are you out there?

This has been discussed before somewhere on here. I think with camcorders having 6/12 month shelf lives and less people buying the HV20 than a 300D the likelihood is it wont happen.
DSLRs usually stick around for 2+ years so more scope for medling.

would be good if someone did.

If nothing else it would be good if someone could hack the firmware to put the exposure info on the video screen.

That, and to be able to turn the gain on/off! :/

If we petition them they might put it in their next model?

Then it wouldn't be a FIRMWARE upgrade! It would be a HARDWARE upgrade.

True Dat! True Dat!
I wish they would do that for the HV20 but I don't think they will.
I think they would save it for the successor model.
All they care about is the bottom line.
