I think I now understand "White Balance". Assuming a guerrilla budget please correct any incorrect assumptions or misstatements below:

If I add light where sunlight is present I should use "daylight" florescent to augment rather than a halogen or typical incandescent.

I shouldn't mix light source types if I can avoid it (candle, sun, led, halogen etc) other than for effect

Flags, Barndoors and other lighting control can be done effectively DIY with sheet aluminum and black paint matching the results achievable from an HV20.

Not necessarily.
You should not.
What?

1. If you want it to look like more sunlight, then sure. Consider motivation.

2. Not generally, but consider motivation.

3. I don't know what you mean by "match the results achievable by the hv20". You can make barndoors to attach to worklights, but it generally isn't worth it since proper tungsten fixtures are cheap.
