the 7D vs GH1 region question.

Hi Everyone,

I am looking at either the 7D or the GH1. Aside obvious reasons, another fature of the 7D that appeals to me is that I have the option to switch from PAL to NTSC, meaning I can buy the camera from B+H or another US website and save myself about a $1K

I was just wondering if anyone knew whether the Lumix GH1 also had this fature (PAL to NTSC switch)?

To the best of my knowledge the GH1 comes in either PAL or NTSC version but is not switchable. The 7D allows changing from one to the other on a menu.

Would you know of any US stores (online or not) which sell PAL DSLR Cameras? So that I could purchase the GH1 at US prices, but use it here in Australia.

Also, if I went with the 7D, I could buy it anywhere as it has the built in switch, correct?

I live in Australia too and bought my 7D through an ebay shop based in Hong Kong. They are just as cheap as the US sellers and being a PAL country you will get a PAL camera (if you go for the Panasonic, the 7D is switchable as previously mentioned.
I got my 7D from Trading_Centre, search for them on ebay and you will see that they offer free shipping for certain payment methods. Also, as they are an Australian registered company, I did not have to pay any import duty. Delivery was 3 days from placing the order.
They do sell Canon and Panasonic cameras but not the GH1 unfortunately.
