Here is my huge dilema thus far with my new purchase of the HDC-HS250. I was informed by reading Digital photography that the camera had a Hotshoe. Needless to say it Does not come with a hotshoe at all. The camera, has an attachment you can buy for another 100 dollars roughly that simply mounts into the tripod 1/4 x 20 mount on the bottom. My problem is I have a very nice tripod that i'd like to be using so that my shot's are far steadier than if I where to go handheld. I don't care to make peeps watching my films/short's sea sick. Hence I opted for a cam with OIS optical image Stablization. The cam is being used for in car shot's currently, and Is mounted on a straped in tripod which has produced alot smoother shots for a very cheap price. Although if I use a mount for the so called "hot shoe" it will block me from being able to use my tripod :(?? Which is lameo! Lastly, I often am doing film at night, I currently have a 62mm inner thread size lens hood on the front of a wide angle lens. Thus the light has to be high enough to see past the lens hood. I'm looking into using IR light. As some of the film's im making it's better to not be seen filming.

SO any idea's? How can i add a hotshoe mount to the top of my cam? Or perhaps something so i can mount a hotshoe bottom'd ir light that perhaps takes batteries, and still be able to use my tripod? Good question?

A bracket such as

can provide a couple cold shoe mounts and has threads in the bottom so your camcorder can still be mounted to a tripod.
