Sony looks to be going after the Panasonic GH1 and other 4/3 cameras.

I am holding on buying anything until I see what sony comes up with on Nov. 18th.

Well it's about time, now lets see if they do good with their first one, it'd be nice to be wowed by their first attempt.

Sony may have some edge due to their partnership with Zeiss. Let's see what their pricing for kits of comparable quality will look like though. I suppose that's what will give the real edge in the end.

IMHO Sony has always been a bit like Mercedes. It's brilliant once you've paid up the nose for all the options but plain vanilla, it's just a taxi cab with a big name on it...

I have never really been a fan of Sony products, especially their video cameras. Compared to footage from Canon and Panasonic, Sony always looks really cold and videoy.

About the cold a videoy look to their camcorders. I"m pretty sure that can be corrected by adjusting in camera settings. It's just that 90% of the users wouldn't know how to.

Sony cameras tend to have a blueish tint and Canon cameras lean towards magenta. Neither is necessarily good nor bad in that regard as they can changed in post and in camera.

IM, with you guys, I have never really cared for Sony products other than their TV'S. But then again, those are over priced too. They always seem to have some little odd form factor or off beat feature that only works with their stuff. Im curious to see what they put out. They have never really been known for dslr's even though they have been making them from the begining.

I have the sony alpha 100 got it used in 07 for 500 with a kit lens and I love it. It is getting pretty old now, but I have printed a few 45"x33" prints that looks great. I have been really happy with it.

However my friend had a canon rebel and it was able to go into much higher ISO's before the grain becomes a problem. I tend to like sony though, another nice thing is that IS is in the camera.
