Are there other batteries with a higher rating that will last longer than the BP-2l14 to be used with the HV20?

I've had good luck with the batteries from http://sterlingtek.com/

I'll second the SterlingTek reccomendation. I have used many of their batteries in my other cameras with excellent results, and they give me longer use than some of the namebrand batteries. I just got my HV20 and am planning on ordering a couple extras from SterlingTek....by the way, they offer fast shipping and great customer service as well, I'm sure you'll find them mentioned elsewhere here and in various photography forums as a reputable merchant!

I have used other brands battery for the Canon GL2. It ended up that battery drained faster. After a few months, after each full charge in the charger, it shows up only 3/4 in the camera.

Sterlingtek batteries for me. I've used them for my Rebel, 10D, 20D, 30D, and now HV20. No problem at all. In fact ALL batteries from the 10D days are still working very well.

My Sterlingtek batteries seem to outlive the OEM batteries.

I picked up an Energizer battery from Best Buy, so far it's working great.

How much is the Energizer battery you bought from Bestbuy? Aren't they like $7x? I ordered a BP-2l14 from Amazon for $5x.

or Sterlingtek's BP-2L14 for only $32.

Has anyone tried this one with the HV20 yet?

Anyone use SterlingTek's NB-2LH battery for the HV20? It's rated at 1700mAh vs. the BP-2L14's 1900mAh. Not much of a difference plus it should be lighter and smaller for those not using tripods. Or is this a bad idea?

OEM BP-2L13 is rated at 1200mAh. Even if the 'generics' don't perform to the rating, they should still at least be as solid as the OEM, right?

I actually have both. The NB-2LH batteries work for about as long as the supplied battery. The BP-2L14 is actually closer to 2100 mAh according to a technician friend of mine (I don't know how he tested my battery). It does last much longer than the supplied battery.

Regardless, the weight is not a problem for me because I"m using WD-H43, so I need something to counterbalance the lens adapter.

Thanks David. The NB-2L backup would take up less room in a compact bag as well, so I may look to try them for that very reason. I'm looking to fit only the necessities in the smallest bag I can reasonably use...

Anyone in the uk have any ercomendations? The Sterlingtek batteries sound good but I don't want to get some sent over and end up paying taxes.

If you just buy a couple (British "couple": ie 2, not US "couple" ie "several") then at least in Canada the Customs Office never opened the packaging (thus never asked for the tax money).

I just noticed Serlingtek sell through an ebay.co.uk store. Might give them a try.

I also want a recharger is there anything to choose between or do they all do exactly the same thing at the same speed?

Update: I just ordered two via ebay. £27.51 incl. postage. I'll add another update for all my UK chums when (if) they arrive.

items bought from ebay.co.uk still ship from USA

There is only one type of charger for these batteries.

Always looking for a bargain, a search on eBay throws up hundreds of compatible batteries including this one from co_battery. Has anyone first hand experience of it? Two for GBP15 (USD30) delivered (from HK).

Heads up!
eBay is such a mixed bag of bargains and rip offs, it's always worth researching stuff. My concern was in the power claim of 1450mAh. But towards the bottom of that eBayer's listing it says the batteries are made by 'Hi-Capacity' power products and Googling them leads to this interesting link (http://www.hi-capacity.com/exchange/). Now I don't see this particular battery listed there but the fact they have (allegedly) made batteries for Notebooks that overheat and melt (posing a fire hazard to consumers) is not encouraging! Still I seem to remember Dell had a massive battery problem on some batches of their laptops but I still bought a desktop from them. So if anyone should have tried a 'Hi-Capacilty' make battery in their HV20, please share your experience.

Although I agree in your stance in general. Nowadays buying a battery strictly from a company whose battery never melts will be a tad difficult because this means you're closing your doors to any battery produced by Sanyo and Sony (which supposedly the makers of 50% of lithium ion batteries in the world) and youj're left with GP, Energizer, which most of their lithium ion batteries are manufactured by... Sony and Sanyo :(

Hahnel do a great set of compatible batteries. Their biggest HV20 battery is the HL-2L21.

How about Tekkeon batteries, are they compatible for HV20?
