How do we know whats better for you when you dont tell us who you are and what you do?

My moneys on the Panasonic.

Its got bigger sensor, newer and better recording format and doesnt look like My First Prosumer Camcorder

More bang for your buck in the Panasonic, simpler editing in FCP with the JVC and pretty manual controls. Depends on how experienced you are with cameras i guess. Both seem pretty good. At this rate though if your spending 4k on a camera, you may want to consider a DSLR cam setup. But as mentioned before me we don't know what your needs are.

DSLR setups at the moment are a niche and almost gimmicky. Yes good for locked down shots or set pieces but you cant run and gun with them plus you need outboard audio, etc etc

The run and gun part is pretty true, but i honestly think that people who can afford it should record audio separately with a Zoom device or something, on any camera. Jello does kill though.
