I'm told that the format in which this HD camcorder records is not compatible with most DVD players, is this the case ? If so will it play on my computer ?

If I can not copy and play this on a standard DVD player what program should I use to convert so it can be played on a standard system.

Also I see sellers selling the UV lens for this recorder, as stated in another post how does it attach to the lenes if there are no grooves ?

I have not purchased yet and this is why I'm asking questions before hand.

It shoots AVCHD, which needs to be downsized and recompressed when authoring your DVD. As long as your player (Quicktime X, Windows Media Player), your NLE (iMovie, Vegas) supports editing it, and your computer has sufficient power you should have no problem editing, recompressing, and playing your clips.

No grooves? It has filter threads (37mm) listed in the specs of the Canon camera page.
