Pretty promising camera: http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/JVC-Announces-New-High-End-HD-Camcorder-In-Japan-The-GZ-HM400--36793.htm#

Nothing TOO exciting, but it's a pretty good looking cam.

"The camcorder also includes the same high speed shooting modes featured on the GZ-X900 (600fps, 300fps, and 120fps)"

Could be fun.

Yeah it seems like a good little camera, i'm wondering if the high speed modes would produce usable results.

From page 39 of the users manual on the JVC website

http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/01/32/LYT2096-003B.pdf

the lens for the GZ-HM400 has relative apertures ranging from f/2.8 to f/4.5. Since the HV30 ranges from f/1.8 to f/2.8 (HV30 manual says f/1.8 to f/3.0), it appears that the sensor in the GZ-HM400 receives less than half the light of the sensor in the HM30. Could this be right? Can anyone with the camcorder verify what the largest aperture actually is?

Hmm, i'm not too sure. Thats interesting though, seems like it should be different.
