After going through many reviews, I bought my first camcorder, HF 200 last week. Although HD camcorders do not contain mega zoom, canon HF 200 boasts 15X optical zoom and to my surprise, image is getting blurred even before I could use 60% of the optical zoom ( Tested after disabling Digital Zoom). Do this indicate any problem with my camcorder or should I change any HF 200 setting. Not happy so far and any tips/info would be appreciated
Thanks,
Praveen
You might be too close to whatever you're trying to zoom into. Try zooming outside the window at a faraway house or building and see if the problem persists.

The focus will start to hunt if you zoom in inadequate light, try disabling the fast focus function so the cam only uses thru the lens focus.

Thanks to Seo and Rambo for quick reply.
Seo :: You might be too close to whatever you're trying to zoom into. Try zooming outside the window at a faraway house or building and see if the problem persists
Actually, I was trying to zoom a faraway object. The video is uploaded to youtube (will try to upload some more videos). We can see how video is getting blurred upon zoom - YouTube - minneapolis - riverside - 1 .

I operated HF 200 at variable zoom setting. Please let me know how to disable fast focus function in HF 200.
Thanks,
Praveen

From what I saw the focus stayed on the fence in front of you. Either the focus was set to manual or something was blocking the sensor.

Excellent Catch. I turned off manual focus. It looks great now. Will do addition tests and post video in youtube. Again thanks all for your timely help.
Thanks,
Praveen
