HD Shorts 3 Winners!

Hello everybody, I would like to announce the winners for the HD Shorts 3 Film Festival. We had a pretty good turn out this time around, and despite some road bumps, i had a pretty fun time watching all of the films, as well as filming my own test film for the contest. Thanks to everyone who entered, and to everyone who voted as well. Big thanks to our judges who volunteered their time for the sake of this festival, and thank you to Mal for keeping this forum running.

I didn't vote (obviously) but I think the right ones won the top prizes.

The only thing left is derkoi's Thirteen that also received a considerable percentage of votes.

I'm speechless! That's unbelievable! Thanks to everyone who voted for my short. We had a lot of fun making it, and I can't believe we came first!

I was really impressed by the quality of the other entries, especially 'Thirteen' and 'Inevitable' and I really liked the ideas behind 'Safeguard'. A great selection of different themes and shooting styles mades this a really fantastic competition.

I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with for 'Shorts 4'. It has to be a burrito theme next time right?? ;)

Whilst I voted for Make It Rain, in retrospect I believe FreQ was the best 'short' and a deserved winner.

It was such a close toss up for me I spent a few days trying to decide. In the end I think it was the energy, pace, and flow of "Make It Rain" that tipped the balance for me.

The funny thing is I'm a 70 year old fahrt and anything resembling rap usually turns me off, very few music videos reach me. But this one was so well done it reached me.

I couldn't get things going to get an entry in, dangit. So the contestants had the main fun and each entry had something going for it. All entrants deserve a big hand for getting out there and completing something. The declared winners justly deserve their wins.

I enjoyed watching all the entries, seeing what you folks accomplished.

And I voted!

Ya, im really sorry guys. I had meant to put up another contest by the end of July, but i've been really busy. Im working on my own short film for DVXusers Monsterfest, and now im DP'ing a feature in Arizona for a few weeks, so my schedule is pretty packed. I will try to post a thread up before i leave, but if i cant get to it, i will definitely put something up when i get back (mid september).

I do like the idea of a music video competition, but would it be everyone making a video for one song, or everyone finding their own song/band/artist to make a video for? I like the latter idea better, but i don't think i would wind up with too many entries.

im pretty sure there would be ALOT of people if they could make a music video for their own song / band...

like the competition be find a local band, shoot a music video for them and post..

id be the first one to get in on it...
