I just thought I would share my hv20 experiance so far.

I go this camera last week, and it was beautiful. I shot one of the most amazing sunsets I have ever seen on television. When I changed tapes, the tape carriage just kicked the tape back out (brand new tape) I assumed mabye the tape was bad so I grabbed a couple from my stock and it wouldn't accept ANY tape. Then when I put it in camera mode, the video showed nothing but white, on ANY setting.

I called b&h and got an RMA, and they said they will be shipping me a new one as soon as they get my old one back.

It was an amazing camera for 2 days. I hope I just got the only bad copy ever made.

That's sad to hear drake. I'm glad you got it from b&h though. It could have been sadder. They seem to be a very reliable dealer. That where I bought my camcorder, tripod, head, & WDH-43 adaptor. So for so good. Good luck on your next one.

Hi,

When you said it wasn't accepting any tapes do do mean the tape loader would not close and lock?

I had a problem with my new HV20 when I first tried to load a tape and the tape loader housing would not lock when I tried to push it closed (I kept pushing & pushing). I had power to the camera but I couldn't load a tape.

I accidentally found a solution when I removed the battery (I was operating with the battery) and put it on again. My guess is if the battery is not in its proper seated position it will NOT load a tape.

Not sure if you had the same problem, but I thought I'd pass this along to other HV20 users.

for those you you who don't know, I have the same problem as another user in another thread, I didn't want to hijack his thread so I'll continue on mine.

In short, the cam worked fine until I started running old tapes from my xl1 through it. Then is gave me "remove the cassette" error every time in inserted ANY tape, including a head cleaner.

I sent it back to B&H and got my replacement yesterday. I've been shooting away and having a great time, but I am afraid to put in one of my old minidv tapes. Should I be afraid? Is there anyone else running old tapes and NOT having this problem? I don't want to have to send it back again, but one of the reasons I bought this is because it would play back my old footage.

what do you think?
