Hi guys,

I was just on B&H's website, and for fun added the HF-S100 to my "cart" and it tells me the price is $899.99

Can this be possible ? , the price seems too good to be true.

Seems very low for this camera..... can anyone check that out ?

Thanks !

if you add the HF-S10 to your cart, you get a price of $1089.99

EDIT / UPDATE; I just checked Adorama and their special price is also $899.99 .... when you add it to your cart, before you do the price is $1099.99

I don't know, is this something like a Canon rebate for this week or something ? ... the price *seems* pretty darn good !

Yeah it's $899, they changed it RIGHT AFTER I bought mine. :( I wasn't too bothered as I paid $950, but still lol.

"the price seems too good to be true."

Do you work for B&H and trying to drum up business?
Price too good to be true? You must be kidding.

I just ordered an S100 two days ago from Amazon.com for $869, plus I signed my wife up for the Amazon VISA card for another $30 off, brings us to $839, with free shipping. We'll cancel that VISA card after a few months.

Same day I saw it online at another site for $857 but they didn't have the $30 discount for the VISA card sign-up.

I was originally planning to buy something in product tier like VIXIA HF200, but then I started looking at the spec's for the HF S100. I immediately realized I had to spring for the HF S100.

So, these are all NTSC versions right? If anyone knows a PAL version discount let me know!

I just purchased the S100 at B&H for the $869, included the wide-angle lens (non canon brand)... I had it shipped next-day, and so far so good. I have not had enough time to tweak the settings, and mess with it - but I hope it'll work out well for me....

I noticed the other day, when I was pricing an external battery charger for my 100, that B&H's prices are back up to $999...

Interesting!

If you go to pricegrabber - the price on amazon comes up as $867 but when you click on the link it comes up as $1099. Anyone know how to get that $867 price?

Just an update on this thread I started.

Funny thing, tonight I just checked the pricing at B&H on the HF S100
and now the REG price is $899.99 , no need to even add it to your cart to see that price as B & H has lowered the price.

The HF S10 however is $1299.99 and there's nothing off it now ( no specials when added to the cart ) so basically, the HF S100 has dropped in price, and the HF S10 has remained the same for some reason.

Adorama by the way has the HF S100 listed at $999.99 , no specials .... so $100 more than B&H which is surprising.

The more I think about it, the HF S100 is the way to go, why would anyone want to be tethered to their computer with a cable, when SD cards are so inexpensive these days.....

As an HV20 owner and a Canon TX1 owner, I do so love the ability to shoot with my TX1 and just remove the SD card and I have footage on my computer seconds later. The HV20 is a bunch of extra work... and I'm not sure I'd want to stick with another internal source where I need a cable to get access to that footage.

I do have to wonder..... the film you shoot on the internal drive on the HF S10.... can you move it to an SD card if you wish ?

Also -- can anyone tell me something......... if you are recording, and your internal drive fills up, does filming automatically switch to an SD card ? and vice versa ?

Dave.

I get a price of $999 at b&h, not $899.

ok that's nuts. Last night I swear it was $899.99 , I should have taken a screen shot of the screen :-(

Perhaps, they realized they have a price error, and pumped it up to match Adorama's.

Well so much for that. Thanks for your post

Dave

HFS100 owner here. Just got it last week from Amazon for $869.
Since then the prices have been all over the place. I've seen it as low as $867 from Amazon and similar as places like B&H. All of a sudden around July 4th, everyone raised their prices back to near list. Right now Amazon has it for $1099.

IMO, Canon must have objected to the discounting and demanded everyone bring prices back near list. I'm sure it was taking away sales of the HF20/HF200.

Best price today is from Costco.com. They have the HFS100 for $899 + tax and shipping. Not bad considering Costco's 90 day return policy on electronics.
