Just wondering if a wide-release or semi-wide release feature made with the HV20 is out?

Crank: High Voltage was made primarily with the XH-A1 but does feature a few HV-30 shots for when they needed to put a camera in a dangerous location.

If you were producing a feature and had the budget to support the production values required for a wide release, why would you waste time shooting a consumer camera? Not to mention the frustration level by the dp, camera operator, etc. If you have a real crew it's easier to shoot with industry-standard equipment.

But if someone were to shoot a marketable feature film on consumer gear with a tiny but intelligent crew and it had the right elements (like named talent) to get distribution, then it could happen. The HVxx could hold up to theatrical presentation if care is taken.

But obviously the number of works produced (highend and consumer) that are worth marketing and distribution fees are small anyway, and even smaller when you look at the films from people shooting on consumer gear.

Actually that was with A1's and HF S100's. Sort of a solid state HV30 with AVCHD. The HV20 was used in the Leatherheads trailer though, plus a shot here and there in released films. They usually don't mention it though. There's a thread here about features using digital cameras. It shows you can look up a lot of what camera was used on IMDB.
