HFS 100 LCD in bright sun - I see nothing!

I´ve searched all threads about this problem but no one else seems to have this problem. How do you HFS100 owner do when shooting in bright sunlight?
I saw a LCD hood froom Hoodman (H-300) has anybody tested it?
Are there other LCD hoods that fits HFS 100?

I'm sure you've tried setting the LCD brightness to maximum ? I'd love to hear from others on suitable hoods...

ok...so it seems that a few people have this problem and I think I have the answer...

there is a backlight to the LCD just for this...if you hold down the a Battery Info button for 2 seconds it turns on the backlight to the LCD ...I am not making this up it is in the manual ...it helps when you read it. I haven't actually tried this as I have only had my camera a couple of days and I am at work in the day time....

give us some feedback if this works or not

A hood of some kind for the LCD is almost essential, I have 3 types.

1. The Hoodman 300 with 2x magnifier, the outer convex surface of the large magnifier tends to reflect sky but a wide brimmed straw hat or a "gimme" cap with the bill forward helps to block this reflection giving excellent viewing and magnification for evaluating focus.

2. Cinetactics (www.cinetactics.com) Screen Hoodie30, ballistic nylon and velcro - holds shape very well and if you get face real close (and can focus eyes that close) gives excellent blocking of stray light and real good viewing.

3. Hoodman Hoodloupe 3.0 with camcorder strap (to hold it to LCD screen). Excellent viewing with no magnification. Optics are set for 1:1 and if eye is not centered can give some distortion. This gives almost total blocking of extraneous light and is much like an EVF in some ways.

All three do block some of the controls on the LCD to some extent. I merely move the edge aside to get to what I need and always postion the hood so the joystick (HF series) is exposed. I use all 3 and will find the Hoodloupe absolutely essential on the new Canon T1i in video and live view modes.

i had the same problem and found that if took of my polarised glasses then the problem was gone.

It's not perfect, you still get some glare in bright light, but it's better than nothing. It fits perfectly around the screen without obstructing the menu controls. You also have to flip the LCD screen to store the camera when not in use. No biggie though.
