Like the title states, I just bought the HV30 from Samy's refurbished. Before anyone says I should have bought the computer before, I will tell you that that was my plan. But due to the rising price of new HV30s I jumped on the deal Samy's had. I plan to buy a Mac in 2-3 weeks when I have earned back the money I spent on the camera.

With that said, prior to my purchase I was going to buy a:
iMac 24" with a 2.93 GHz Duo processor and 4GB of ram.

Now I know that setup will run this just fine but I am leaning more towards a laptop because I am starting college in the fall.
So now I am considering the new MBP 15'' with a 2.66 GHz Duo processor and 4GB of ram.

So basically I'm wondering if this laptop will work nicely with my HV30.
Forgive my naivity in the subject, my current computer is a emachine and can't even watch videos in HD on youtube :(

That will work just fine, you'll have no problems at all. It's a very capable machine and you'll be very happy with it, no doubt. And I will be jealous.

I appreciate the fast response. It's going to be my first Mac and I'm really excited. I don't think my wallet will be too happy though. Thank God for student discounts to soften the blow!

You know Apple is offering a free iPod Touch with Macs bought for college as well, right?

Yeah, but I don't think I have that much patience to earn all that money at one time lol. I looked online and between the MBP and the iTouch (before rebate) I would need 2000+Tax at time of purchase. But I will probably get the iTouch to sell and make some money back.

Well I have been checking the apple store periodically since they announced the update and at first the prices were weird. Older refurbished Macs were costing more than new. But I just checked it now and ALL MBPs are gone so I will check back with them when it has finished updating.
