HV20 and FCE capture problem

I have FCE 4.0 and it won't recognize my HV20 for capture. I'm aware of the dropped frame problems with the MAC and HV20 but didn't realize I couldn't capture with it.

Each time I try and capture, I get: 'UNABLE TO INITIALIZE VIDEO DECK'

I'm using 24" MAC desktop, 2.93 processor and firewire 400/800.

Any help would greatly appreciated!

Are you setting up your capture for HD instead of DV? I usually just use the "Easy Setup" and then select the Apple 108060i setting to setup my timeline and captures. Let me know if this works for you.

Also, make sure you connect your camera and have it set to playback mode before launching FCE. I hit play and then pause my footage before initializing my capture.
