I've poked around for a 43mm lens hood, but the only two that I've run across appear to be 4x3 aspect ratio. Also, it looks like the one attched to the HV20 on the "Custom Handle" post:

has a spacer on the camera base to ensure there's enough clearance so that the camera does not rest on the hood. Is this correct or am I dreaming?

Yes, it would be nice to find a 16:9 hood for the HV20.
I haven't seen anything decent yet...

check out the lens hood from Fotodiox, I have one and it works pretty well. If I have a complaint it has to be that it can be knocked off the camera somewhat easily.

Nice find! Are you sure it does not block the lens? The page says 'angle covers standard video lens', not HD.

I want to put a 43-52mm adapter on my HV20 (don't have it yet, arriving mid-June), just because 52mm has a much wider selection of good filters. I'm a bit concerned about a 52mm hood blocking the AF sensor. Could anyone please confirm if 52mm adapter & hood are OK for the HV20? TIA.

the fotodiox 43mm lens hood works fine. the built in wide angle (zooming out all the way) on the hv20 isn't too wide, so no worries.

That's great, thanks for the info.

yup, the "wide angle" on the HV20 is equivalent to approx 39mm FOV on a 35mm camera, not wide at all :(
