I pre-ordered my HV20 trough Amazon.com, can't wait!

I'm going to need a wideangle/telephoto lenses, filters (UV, polarize, etc) & a couple of batteries.

What canon/3rd party brand items would you guys suggest?

THANX IN ADVANCE!

First off: CONGRATS on the pre-order!!!! Do let us know what you think of it, once you get it and try it out!!!

There's a few choices; ALTHOUGH: I believe the wide angle lens (WD-H43) has no front thread, which would mean you can't really use any filters when you are using the wide angle lens. If I am not mistaken this is a common thing with wide angles, and I'd guess the reasoning behind that is that the cam might focus on any potential dust settled on the filter itself.

UV filter and a polarizer is DEFINITELY a good idea though. Since I already have several in the 58mm and 62mm and 72mm variety I'll probably just get step-up rings.

Look for Tiffen (or Hoya although I prefer Tiffen). Cheapo eBay no-name filters might not be very good, and probably not worth the savings.
For REAL good filters checkout B+W (now Schneider) or Heliopan.
For the Polarizer, you can't get much better than a B+W with Kaeseman glass, but expect to pay about $90 for a 43mm size.

Oh, BTW, batteries can be found on eBay. There I'd say you are probably can go with no-name/generic.

^ cool, thanx!

I'll probably go w/ Hoya then, since that's what I use on my DVX100b! Just wanted to find out what was good for the 43mm cameras!

How do you guys feel abuot the Canon telephoto for the HV20?

Thanx again! I think this board is going to be a GREAT source of people coming together to talk about the Canon HV20!

Yeah, not sure about the tele. Do we really need it?
I'm going to wait and see before I try it out. The wide is a must though, IMHO.

Regarding the filters: yeah, the Hoya is relatively inexpensive at about $18 or so (for 43mm).

I might spring for the 43mm B+W Kaeseman linear polarizer (it's $80.00):

what batteries would you suggest?

Here's a 3rd party 1500Mah for $35:

& here's the Canon 1450Mah for $60:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=details_accessories&A=details&Q=&sku=320802&is=REG&addedTroughValue=481076_REG&addedTroughType=accessory_detail

I think it'd be BEST to go w/ 2 of the 3rd party ones for a bit less than 1 Canon, unless someone's had a bad experience w/ the non-Canon's!

& roughly how long does a 1450Mah last on the HV10? I'm sure the battery life between the HV10 & HV20 will be comparable!

Hey.

Well, I think once you go no-name, it doesn't matters what you're getting, and even eBay can offer good deals.

(there's MANY MANY options, those links above are just 2 options; punch in BP-2L14 into search and see what's on offer).

Basically, for me it's either Canon, or CHEAP. $35 still seems steep for non-OEM, IMHO.

I was wondering what some good lenses are to use with a 35mm adapter.

I've heard the Canon 50 mm 1.4 mentioned a few times. Is this the best lense to use?

What are some other good lenses to consider?

Thanks in advance.
