i want to import my HD footage as SD, due to my computer not being up for the task of editing HD footage. I did my research on HV20.com before I bought my HV20 and was excited to learn that I could do this.
Now that I have bought an HV20 (about 1.5 years and 15 hours of recording ago) I want to do some editing. (life gets in the way of hobbys) I am using 06 "I movie" and FCE 3.5 on a G4 with 20g available and 1.5g ram.
I have searched this site and have come up with a couple possible fixes. I will try to list what I have tried and what the result was.
I can get computer to inport HD footage as HD footage. Problem is that I don't have the memory to do this for a whole 60 minute tape. I have thought to import 10-15 minutes of footage at a time and then compress it to a SD for editing but this takes quite a bit of time.
Another suggestion was to change the PLAYBACK STD to DV. Doing this the camera gives me the message PLAYBACK STD LOCKED PLAYBACK IS RESTRICTED. This option seams like it would be great if it worked. I understand from my owner manual that I'm being told that the settings do not match what was recorded on the tape.
Typicly I have been (trying to) importing my footage via I movie due to it creating individual clips. I know that I can (and have) import SD (from a Elura 65) using FCE but did not like the flow, should I learn how to like the flow?
Please help me. Even if you can inform me where the threads that I have missed are that will be a HUGE help.
Thanks a heap.
