Hey guys.
Well with my recent purchases of the 24" indirailsproxv (shoulder mount) and a cavision mattebox, im looking into adapters for my precious little camera :D
My range is no higher than $1,000. Ive been looking into the SG Blade but im not completly sold....
Any suggestions? Should i build one? Or buy one...

SG blade would probably be your best option. It's comparable to the Letus but not as expensive. The Letus would break your $1000 budget. Maybe the Handy35 too, it's cheaper but has no flip option as of now. I forgot the price of Redrocks adapter, but it's a good one too.

Also the SGblade just looks cool.

For my XH-A1 the problem was not so much the 35mm adapter, it was the focus on the A1. I have both a DIY adapter and a Brevis. Suposedly the Brevis with a flip does very well with the A1.
The adapter is basicaly a tube. The GG will make more difference than what tube is used.
However, without a flip the problem is the A1 doesn't focus close enough to have the GG in focus. It does not focus 1" away the way an HV20 does.
Cinevate makes two types of achromats, but using one was not successful for me. There was some barrel distortion and CA.
I played with a friends Redrock microx flip, but still had problems with the amount of light blocked and enough adapter rings.
My DIY adapter was the same result. Too little light was getting through.
I ended up with the Brevis, then the Cinevate achromat for the flip (+10 I think), which is not sold separately, then an aftermarket achromat (+4), then a cinevate ring. The reason I used those achromats and ring were they were all 72mm. It's not flipped but didn't have the distortion.
The microx was based on ~55mm which seemed to block more light.
That's just my personal experience, not a definate statement as to any of this.
If I was doing it all over again I might have just bought the Brevis and flip used for $1,200-$1,300 or so. But hind sight is 20-20.

My buddy who owns a pair of Brevises and a few HV20s also has the XH-A1, and had the same problem Duke describes getting it to focus on the GG. He recently added Cinevate's flip module to one Brevis and it now works great with the A1.

I think you should search for used SGpro r3 with flip..
I am using it on XH A1 and everithing is perfect..
A1 is asuming to be the best cam for that adapter..

The SGpro r3 with flip was discontinued and is now the SGBlade. I haven't looked lately but with an MSRP at $2,000 it's a bit out of the price range he mentioned.

The JAG line of adapters is now compatible with the XHA1 using the XL Optics.

Hey Jehu, I have a few questions about your 35mm adapter.
First is I noticed you now have the JAG35sp for bigger cams such as the XHA1. Does this include the achromat in the price?
Second is I also noticed that higher f-stops can be used with the spinner version which is a great thing considering I want to keep my lens at f/8, what about higher shutter speeds?
Lastly I noticed it says no rails needed yet the pictures show the cams on rail supports. Not sure what you mean by that.
I'm really considering purchasing the SP version from you as the footage looks exceptional and your design is slick.

Well.. as I said, buy used one..
I already have one, and at this moment I am buying the second one ( without flip )..
by my opinion ( I had used letus and brevis )..only the letus ultimate is better ( by the three times the price )..
Spinners rules..
