OK - Just a few questions for you experts.
I just bought a HV20. I'd like to do editing on a PC, so far I like Sony Vegas.
Most of my work will simply be for home, not professional work.
Right now, I'm leaning to using the consumer version of Vegas (Platinum) and wanted to know if I'm going to be missing out on something by not going to PRO and buying a Blu-ray drive.
My thoughts are that Blu-ray drives and probably compatability are in its infancy, and that both prices and features will increase considerably in the next few years.
So, I plan to shoot in HD and capture to PC in HD. Once edited, I'll send back to HV-20 tapes in HD. And then burn "down" to DVD for most viewing and if I have to "show" HD versions, I'll just use the camera tape and HDMI or component video.
Does this sound right to you guys?
Also, PC I'm considering is a Quad core Intel 2.6 GHZ (overclocked higher than that), and about 500GB of disk space for video editing. Do you need multiple drives in Raid 0 configuration? I'm leaning toward XP right now because of the compatability issues with Vista. Any particular graphics card or video in other than IEEE 1394?
BTW, I haven't been able to get my PC to capture SD video streams via IEEE1394 using vegas but HD works fine (version 8.0 Vegas) - any ideas?
