I have been waiting on some computer equipment for my computer and finally got it all in, so I tried rendering some video on sony vegas 8 today and I had alot of problems..
I searched but really couldn't find anything specificly focusing on my issues. First, when rendering footage what format do you put it into? I thought it was mpg2 but when I did this, it ended up as a m2t file, which I dont even know what that is and windows wouldn't recognize it when I wanted to play the video back. So at this point I am still clueless as too how the video is going to turn out.

So basically does anyone have project properties/ rendering properties for sony vegas 8 that they can post on here to get good AND working quality video

and if sprocket reads this, the 2gb ram worked perfectly and came in quickly, thanks for the help

Not sure what you're using for search terms, but this has all been covered.

M2T files are what your software captures HD from your camera as. If you make an association in Windows with Media Player it can play them. Better yet is to download the free VLCPlayer software and use that as it plays them natively and better.

MPG2 is an output format used for DVD creation. It can also be used as a format for web distribution, but there are better alternatives available in Vegas. You should spend some time reading the Stickies at the top of this subforum and look for Eugenia's tutorials. I'm closing this thread. If you have more questions fins a relevant existing thread and post in there.
