Here's what I have so far.
HV30
Jehu's static adapter
Canon fd 50mm 1.4
Formatt 4x4 mattebox
mk300 shotgun
Manfrotto 701RC2
custom baseplate
I need a monitoring solution. I bought an fx810 without a battery which was advertised as an fx820 w/ battery which doesn't seem to want to accept a line in signal.
I would really like a cowon a2 or a3 because the size is perfect. then my rig will be complete.

What's the resolution on the cowon? I'm being lazy.

I believe it's 800x400 or something. I'm also being lazy.

Yea, the Cown is 800 x 480. I was looking into that but decided it was not worth it for $300 when you can get a 800 x 480 monitor for around $150. Still looking around though.

Yeah you could get a monitor for cheaper. Do they make HD portable DVD players? I guess that would actually be portable Blu-ray players.

yeah you don't need hd resolution in a small monitor. 800x480 is good enough for focusing on up to a 7 inch monitor I believe. I just don't like how big the FX820 is, especially for when I run just the mattebox and cam setup and need a monitor. the Cowon would be perfect except word is that it skews the image somehow? I'd get it if I could find one under $200 cad.

This should cover all questions about using the A3 as a focusing monitor:

And the cheapest 800 x 480 monitor I have seen is the Sony DVP-FX820. (http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DVP-FX820-8-Inch-Portable-Player/dp/B00139R1TA/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1234684940&sr=8-1) It just boggles my mind that this can have a component in and 800 x 480 resolution and the Ikan can have the same specifications for $900.

yes I've read that thread on the cowon. seems like it's something I could definitelymake work for me.
And I already have an fx8 series monitor. It is too big and doesn't want to work properly.

Nice baseplate. Looks clean, and looks like it serves a purpose.
Monitor....I would honestly go for a DIY HD monitor. If you could build a case for it that looks nice, and neat, it would have a great resale value.
Seems like you have a lil' DIY in you...try it out. =]

hard to find a 4 or 5 inch hd monitor and a controller small enough...
ideally I'd want an ipod touch as a monitor. lol.
