I've just come accross this software (ie. the website) and thought it might be useful for some people on here;

"GEARSHIFT is a tool that will allow HDV users to convert their files to the Sony 4:2:2 YUV codec, which is a superior method of working towards professional HD output.
At the same time, GEARSHIFT can also convert your .m2t file to a DV Widescreen proxy stream. This means that even if you own a slower computer, or if you want to edit on a laptop or other less than optimal system for editing HD, you can use proxy streams for most of your editing work!
In addition to the file conversion, GEARSHIFT will convert your file to 24p if you’d like. GEARSHIFT from VASST is for Sony Vegas 5, 6 & Sony Vegas 7 software."
I haven't used it so I don't know anything about it other than what I've just read. If someone has used then some feedback would be nice.
