I bought my hv20 a week ago and so I do not have much experience shooting with it.
And above that, I do not have a HDV compatible tv yet. So I am afraid I do not get a clear view on difference between shots taken with different settings.
I fell in love with the cinemode setting, but I will certainly be forced to switch to a diffent setting under f.i. low light conditions. So I have read Pat Jennings tutorial on how to avoid gain. This is done in another setting than cinemode.
Will I see to much difference on a HDV tv?

Every mode is different - if there would be a best mode, why have something else? ;)

You can also preview on a PC or Mac, if you are not sure that the current mode is good for what you want to achieve.

Disculpe, but I have always understood, that one should not believe, that the quality of the picture in the monitor of a pc can be compared to the image on tv . . . . so looking at the footage on pc does not show what you will see on a tv . . .

Most problems I have when watching on the PC come from a weak link in the decoder chain that messes up somehow. So for preview purposes donīt use something that decodes with DirectShow, tools like DGDecode come with their own MPEG2 decoder.
