My effort/guide to emulate the CSI:Miami look. Might be of use to some. Hint: it does not involve just saturation. :)

Now you're advocating using cine mode again?

Nice. Don't know exactly what's so special in CSI: Miami that deserves the title "CSI Miami Look" though, but nice none the less.
It would've been waaay cooler if you called it Miami Vice Look :hv20-smilie81::hv20-smilie79::hv20-smilie31:

I'm glad to hear you finally understood the value of the additional creative tools provided by this camera. After reading your never-ending replies on why not to use cinemode I was starting to think you were just a stubborn novice; however, this post makes me think you have finally opened your mind to expand your creative horizons. I hope this is a lesson for us all in the sense that we don't have to pretend to know it all; Like Eugenia, most of us are new to HD and have to respect the comments and preferences of other people. Forums on HV20 have been a great help for me and I would encourage other participants not to engage in fruitless discussions with other members, especially when the topic is subjective (like liking or not liking cinemode). Many professionals spend a lot of time sharing their experiences with us and instead challenging their personal opinions we should be appreciative of their efforts.

I have not completely changed my mind about cinemode: it has no details in dark places. When I record my dog, I still record in "auto". When I shoot music video clips, I either use cinemode or shutter speed priority.

I much prefer shooting everything neutral when it comes to colour and then doing all the colour tweaking in post. Iris/aperture is a different story altogether.
When you shoot with the colours bumped up from the get-go, you compromise some of the resolution. The more neutral the image is, the less colours 'compete' against one another.
In post, you can choose which colour you want to 'shine'
(hope this makes sense)

I agree with this, but I had nothing neutral in my archive to use in my sample video.
