Some nice shots in there!

Did you lock exposure, or let it do it's own thing?

Wow, amazing! Just shows how having a good soundtrack lifts a production up a notch. Even though I could hear the different soundclips of rain tied in together, the rain and thunder in the beginning was beautifully edited and matched with the footage. Great footage too btw.

Can I ask what you used to edit with, what you used for the fonts, where you bought/downloaded the lightstreaks background, and what lens you used to get so close to the moon?!?

Thanks

Skinnyboy, When shooting 24p in conjunction with Cinemode, the HV20 tries really hard to keep the shutter speed at 1/48, and it does a good job most of the time. In other words, I did not lock exposure.

SpoilerWarning, I used Final Cut Studio for this rough cut; the fonts are from Motion (I used a template but you can create your own with a little bit of patience); soundtrack was done with Soundtrack Pro which comes with some pre-loaded media and sounds (most of the sounds are not from the original footage as you might have guessed; besides from some of the thunders, the crickets in the final scene and the voice of my daughter everything else is added). Music was also done with Soundtrack Pro by editing pre-loaded loops. I agree with you that soundtrack is vital to elevate the production; for this clip I ended up with 10 tracks and two sub-mixes! All part of the fun...

No additional lens was used for the moon shot, I was just fully zoomed-in. I guess the moon was just big and red that night! Global warming dude, I have to tell you!

Nice one, thanks for the answers Flipileon. I knew I should have gone the Mac/FCP/Motion route...

Absolutely beautiful Flipileon! Love it. I haven't taken any footage with my new HV20 yet, but your clip is inspiring. I can hardly wait. I'm doing what I almost never do, and that's RTFM! :)
