Anyone have any idea when the price will drop? 4th quarter? When the new HDD version is out? Christmas? New Year?

Will it drop much if at all?

From the Camcorder Info review I was under the impression that the HG10 is more expensive than that HV20.
I'll guess there will be no price drop until the true successor to the HV20 is released. And I'll wager that the successor will be an HV20 in the HG10 clothes, and true 24P.
My history of getting predictions correct is very low...

My friend is a manager at ABC Warehouse in Michigan. I asked him if he thought there'd be a price drop on the HV20 when the new ones come out in Oct.
He said "very little if any".
I paid $850 for mine from him.

I think you'll see a slow, steady decline in price over time, esp. as new models (Canon or otherwise) are released. But I don't think we'll all wake up one morning to discover a 50% price cut. And frankly, even at $900 the camera is a steal in terms of image quality. I say just buy one and start shooting and don't worry about when prices may fall.

If you compare prices of competitive products such as Sony's HDR-HC7 and JVC's GZ-HD7, I would be surpeised if Canon would drop the price at all. Taken into account, that the HV20 beats boths compatiters on most specs.
