The boys in brown just dropped off my HV30 today.

It's shiny and glossy and covered in buttons with mystical acronyms that may as well be Chinese braille...but i'm still excited.

My interest is in filmmaking. I bought this camera to shoot a few of my short scripts over the winter and hopefully garner enough experience to tackle a feature length psychological/horror project this coming spring in Northern Michigan with nothing but an assistant and a handful of actors.

Looking through some of the threads here, I must say I'm a little bit daunted by all the information available. It's a bit like staring up at the sheer side of a mountain.

I wish I knew someone that was knowledgeable in directing/editing who could walk me through the wide-eyed idiot stage of my digital video education...but I don't, so I guess I'll just have to learn by doing.

Anyway, pleased to meet you all.

:hv20-smilie70:

P.S: How to i do use an avatar? When I press the button to "edit avatar" it brings me to a screen with a checked box for "do not use avatar" that I can't un-check...

Hey Noir, welcome to the forum. Make sure that you always do a search before posting a new thread, so that useful information doesn't get lost in multiple threads.

(its actually Japanese)

As far as the avatar goes, you should be able to just click the upload button. Maybe you have to have a certain number of posts before you can have an avatar? Im not entirely sure.

No, Japan is NTSC. I bought it from Twoneil a while ago. Its broken, it doesn't record to tape. I use it as a capture deck (i bought it for $300).
