Hi!
I've thinking of buying a new HDV camera, and have used the HV20 alot.
With the EOS 5MKII canon have given me something to dream about, but since I'm a photoguy I just cant understand why they shouldn't make a new series of HDV cameras with 35mm optics based on the experience they have leared from the 5mkII..
I mean, they would sell a lot of high priced pro consumer lenses, they would be the first one with a HDV camera with exchangeable lenses in the lower price segment(as I know of?), they could have a lot larger volum on the full size sensor, that again would make productioncost lower..
What dosent I understand??
Is there any rumors about something like this??

Someone might, and we are all waiting to see what's next announced by Canon's video department as well as NAB.
However, in addition to the 5D MkII with 21.1 megapixel sensor (built on the 5D), there is also the D90 DSLR with video already announced and being released as well as the Lumix G (built on the G1) DSLR with video.
The Lumix G is prototyped but firm specs aren't out however the G1 has a 12.1 megapixel sensor, smaller lighter 4/3 lenses, etc.

When is the next big happening in the video world?
photokina is now.Is there something similar that something like this could be resealed on?

Yes, but all these is still a still photo camera with video..
The thing I can't understand is, when company's like canon release something like the 5mkII with the limitations it should mean that the video department is coming with something new too..
And normaly (in the still photo forums) there is always someone with some good information.. Now I've been looking high and low for the same with the video cameras, but can't find anything that even suggest that a real videocamera with 35mm in the upper budget marked and so on is coming.
Is'nt that strange?? or wouldn't that be a camera a lot of people is looking for?

The big NAB convention is April 2009. The Lumix G rumors are out, but you're right Canon hasn't announced any new video offerings yet. I see three possibilities.
a) Canon only has updates to existing camcorder models. (Some rumors to that effect, if so the other camera makers will love it.) :hv20-smilie119:
b) Canon has something really new and wants to create a splash. (This is what I'm hoping, but we have no idea.) :hv20-smilie45:
c) Canon wants to see what everyone else is going to release to see which version they release. (This is the cynical idea that Scarlet fanboys preach.) :hv20-smilie108:
The actual sales of cameras announced at NAB may be around then, 6 months later, or sometimes never.
