Here's my first bit of captured footage from my HV20 (21mb). It's standard DV (laptop can't cope with HD).

http://hv20.info/yopu/mouse_short.mpg

I edited in Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8 Platinum and saved as:

mpeg2
"Audio: 224 Kbps, 48,000 Hz, Layer 2
Video: 25 fps, 720x576
Use this setting to create a PAL DVD-compliant MPEG-2 file."

With "Stretch video to fill output frame size (do not letterbox)" ticked.

Could you tell me why there is a thin black line under the top black bar. It flickers away and I can't figure out how to get rid of it.

mmh, It's not letterboxed... but it's not widescreen too
When I compressed one of my videos for youtube with letterbox I had this thin little black line on the upper box too, don't know what it is.

I saw that thin black line also. It is caused when you've shot your footage in HD and later capture it with the playback setting put on:Fixed DV output.

If you change the setting to : DV/HDV output, the line is gone.
But when capuring, you have to make sure that the HV20 is recognized as a HDV-cam. Otherwise you will see a black screen.
I use Ulead10 with the HV10/HDV patch from the Ulead site.

That's done the trick. I downloaded off the HV20 as HD and then saved as PAL DV and MPG2.

The only problem is that my laptop has trouble coping with the HD content.

Also, a 15 second file saves as 15mb, is that right?
