We won't know who has won until the war is done.

actually if I'm going to buy one for personal use, I would consider this HG10.

There's a little preview on the HG10 at CamcorderInfo (http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Canon-Finally-Releases-an-HDD-Camcorder---the-High-Definition-HG10-33084.htm)

Well....I've yet to find a HDD cam's picture wow me. Let's hope the 15MBps data rate improves the AVCHD pictures compared to other brands.

Lol.. I like the way the porn industry is used to judge the success of a format! I have to say, as a long term PS2 owner I'm quite keen on the idea of getting a PS3, and given that BlueRay is featured on it.. I'll be a BR person too. I just hope the battle isn't too long, the development of accessible technology (ie something i can afford) is being held up by this high power bickering!

From what I've seen, the prices on both technologies has been dropping pretty quickly. And isn't LG or Samsung set to release a dual BluRay/HD-DVD player?
I'm not buying either right now, but it's not because of a "format war." It's becuase the prices are going to come down dramatically in the not-too-distant future and I don't mind waiting. Personally, I think both formats will co-exist, very much like DVD-R and DVD+R do today. The BluRay discs have a higher capacity (assuming HD-DVD doesn't beat them significantly to market with multiple layers), so I'll probably lean that way.
But honestly, there's no need for consumers to get worked up or to line up into warring factions (let's leave that to the companies who developed the technologies, who will have to divy up the royalties).

I hope both formats will do well and wage war on each other for as long as possible, keeps the market a little cheaper and thus better for us consumers :).
