View Full Version : New York Footage
This is some footage I shot on a trip to New York a few weeks back.
I was producing a video for a client and hired a local crew with a Sony Z1U. I brought the little camera along just to test it out. I tried shooting in varying light conditions and really put it through it's paces. All the footage in the video you see is from the Canon HV20 and the final video I'm putting together for my client will incoporate material shot from both cameras. The crew laughed at the HV20 until they saw how good the footage looked...

The video was imported as HDV and edited as HDV. 1080i.

I shot this 1080i. Because I thought I might incorporate this footage with other footage, I didn't shoot 24p. I plan to do some experimenting this weekend in 24p land.
Great footage, gibo.

The avi (15 MB) is a compressed version in case you don't want the muxed ts file (274 MB) - which is the second link. Just right click and "save as".

I saved the AVI and opened it up with Windows Media Player. I heard the sound but didn't see any video. Any ideas. I'll try the MPG at home this evening.

I hardly use Win Media Player for anything anymore.
Bluegrass, try VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
That plays the AVI clip just fine here.

I think you're supposed to get a render error message when you don't see the video but I haven't used Winblows Media Player in a really long time. There's a free avi codec information appliance program called "GSpot". This little gem gives you lots of information. Just an FYI.
I don't know what to say. I'm on the Mac side of things and when I view the avi online, I get picture but no audio. When I DL it, I hear the audio again. If it's any help, I used DIVX encoder for the AVI.
Thanks for the compliment, Mal. I still can't believe how nice this camera shoots!

Mal ______ Thanks for the heads up on the player. I'll check it out. The reason I try to make all my video compatible with WMP is that it is part of the OS and thus is likely to be able to be viewed by the largest audience. Alternatives like this might be a good idea though. I could always put a link and recommend my audience try this player but I hate to force anyone into installing another player. This is a whole other topic of discussion though. I hate to get into a mud slinging debate about IE versus Firewire, Windows versus Linux versus Mac, etc. I'm downloading the player as I write this. Thx

Gibo,
Nice stuff! I'm terrified of flying, I've never been to NY but now I have sorta. If you have more footage that you'd consider posting I'd love to see it.
Thank you!
