I'm seeing crashes in Vegas Movie Maker 8 after I use its scene detect to split up a 24P recorded tape. Out of about 300 clips 3 cause Vegas to crash when they are previewed. I can read them with Elements but they have obvious visual glitches in them, very green with pixelation at the start. I'd report it to Sony but apparently they don't let you report errors or post on their forum if you are using the trial version.
Any thoughts?

Weird. Either your Vegas installation is broken and not all codecs are installed properly, or you have a graphics driver bug (update to the newest version), or your tape was bad.

Well I tried recapturing with scene detect off and it worked. Recapturing the same piece of tape with scene detect on did exactly the same, no dropped frames, but when the preview tried to show it, Vegas crashed. There is a noticeable glitch in the playback on the camera and on the single scene capture though, the image jumps, I think the camera didn't quite record it correctly, although it could be bad tape I suppose.
It captured everything else with no problem. I'm going to buy Vegas in any case and see if Sony has any comments.
I keep my drivers well updated since I use the same machine for Second Life.
