View Full Version : Camera position in bag...
Ok, possibly a really stupid question, but everyone seems helpful here. Just bought my HV20 yesterday and got a camera bag with it. The camera seems to fit in the bag best on its side with the handstrap facing up. Is it ok to have it like that should it be right side up all the time? I know sometimes positioning can cause stress on parts. Does that make any sense?
PS, this is a great forum by the way. i'll definitely be around more that i got my new toy:hv20-smilie03:

Dude, that's hilarious.
I just got mine yesterday and bought a camera bag today, put it in and worked out the way it fit best was with the strap facing up and I wondering exactly the same thing.
What is the best way to position the camera in the bag?

Mine also fits best that way, as well as being the natural way to remove it and lower it into the bag (by the strap facing up). Never considered there was a "best way" to reduce stresses on parts....hmmm....of course if that's the case store the bag on it's side....lol.....I have so much paragliding gear in the pickup that my bag ends up on it's side anyway.
I wouldn't worry too much about how it sits in the camera bag. The most important part to be careful of is the lens, even that - with this camera is quite well protected. As long as the camera bag is padded all around, put it in the way you want to.

I got the Canon SC2000 camera bag, which I totally love and like that it says Canon like the camera. Anyways, the camera is too small too fit perfect and snug in the main compartment, so I keep it inside the two plastic things that cover it which go inside the box that it came with. It fits perfectly in the bag that way. I figure it's a little extra protection too... Just kinda sucks to have to open the bag and still pull out the plastic things.
it's like opening a christmas present everyday though!

"Christmas everyday". That's good. I am getting ready to purchase a bag and I think I may have seen some Canon bags at Best Buy. I'll keep what you said in mind. I like it when the inside has adjustable padded velcro dividers that would solve the problem you speak about. I would find something soft to cushion around the camera if I were you. How about a washcloth or a rag or two you can use as cleaning rags for other things. How much extra space is in the bag.
I kind of know what you mean about the size thing. When I mounted that baby up on my new $371 tripod it looked a little out of place. Oh well, that pod will hold this camera and than some. It's smooth as silk though on pans and tilts. I need to buy some more attachments to hang on to that puppy. Is this hobby a money pit or what?
