I have created a dvd and only the audo played....no video what so ever. I then created a file WMF and it is really dark. Can anyone explain what causes the video to be so dark? TIA for any help.

Sorry I don't have an insight but I created a file in PS 10.7 and sent it to my wife's nephew, of his 7 month old daughter. The file (mpeg4) played beautifully, both visually and with sound on my old comp when clicked on as an attachment to the e-mail. I was in town a week ago and stopped by and found out they couldn't open the file, when I got them updated, the file played, but only the sound. There are a lot of variables in this one, and I'm a hopeless noob, but it sounds similar.

After writing the above, I went back to the e-mail and clicked on the attachment, WMP started up and said "looking up codec", then played the clip. So my guess is the nephew doesn't have the right codec on his machine to play the attachment. Does this sound right? And how do I find which codec it looked up? I assume the MPEG4, but it didn't say.

I assume that you meant a wmv file and not a wmf. I'm not even sure what a wmf file is. Anyway, there is a whole lot of information you left out. Perhaps you could identify your workflow. Camcorder setup - HDV or DV plus any other settings. How did the file you captured into PS10.7 look in the editor preview window? What specification did you use to create the DVD & the WMV file? I use PS & as for as PS10 goes, 10.7 was the first version that I had any success with.
I captured my first HDV clip I shot with the HV20 last weekend and after purchasing, downloading and installing the HD DVD addon to PS, I was able to create a HD DVD disk that played on my Toshiba HD player. Incidentally, I couldn't even pull a directory on the HD DVD I created on my PC. There must be some magic going on here that I don't understand yet. It recognized it as a HD DVD on the desktop HD DVD player. I had a few problems with audio until I realzed I needed to select PCM instead of Dolby. When I tried to select various qualities of WMV file creation I was only successful with one which I posted in my site and will give a link to it here. I will go into more job workflows with PS10.7 as I find time. It looks like I will at the very least try Vegas 7 as my next editing program. I'm not proud at all of my first HD clip but if you want to view it, goto my home page and scroll down to near the bottom - johnhartford.org

Thanks bluegrass for the insight on purchasing the HD DVD addon, I wondered about that. My experience as well, 10.7 being the first version (I have back to 7 I believe), to work reasonably well so far. Like you, I am also looking at Vegas 7...

I'm a hopeless optimist when it comes to PS -- I just spent another $76 preordering PS 11. (after buying the HDV upgrade only a couple of months ago)
