Last week I took my new HV20 to the Houston Grand Prix and taped some race cars. Shot it at 1080i, transferred it to DVCPROHD for the edit, and then output it to mpeg2 ts. I have links to the ts (207mb) file as well as a much smaller, compressed divx avi(12mb) file if you just want to see the video.
*UPDATE* Old links are dead. The video is now available on Vimeo here: http://www.vimeo.com/1240051

AWESOME footage. Downloaded the MPEG in all its glory! :)
(very nice editing job too, by the way!)
Amazing that this is from a $1000 cam...hard to believe really. How did you transfer to DVCproHD? Not via HDMI out by any chance?

Thanks for the compliments.
Yes, I used HDMI out to a Blackmagic Intensity Card. It speeds up the process a lot!

Darn!!!
So the Intensity CAN handle the HV20's 1080i????
What's the workflow, and PPPPPLEASE post that over to the "24p workflow thread".
I've been going on about how the Intensity can't handle Hv20....just shows how valuable MY info is! :hv20-smilie119:
What about pulldown removal?

No No. I'm sorry, I didn't use the HV20's HDMI output. I used a Sony deck connected to the Intensity card. However, I'm going to start some experimentation with the HV20 and Intensity card as I've read your other posts about it.
But I will post my findings as soon as I can.

Oh, okay then. DEFINITELY try and see what you can do, re: HV20 --> HDMI out to ---> Intensity to --> PC or Mac.
That's what I'm hoping for.
Would be good to know if that's true 4:2:2 and 1920x1080.

simply put.... WOW. I cant beleive the quality of the picture from that camera. I was shopping around for a camera that records HD to take down to mexixco in June for the Baja 500. Your video has just locked in the Canon. Great editing too.
Thanks again for the compliment. Yeah, I think that the Canon will serve you well in that environment. Let me know if you need a second camera person! It'd be a great time shooting the Baja 500!

Im actully getting ready to post on race-dezert.com to find someone to share footage with. Preferably someone with same quality that my canon is going to take.

Funny...everytime I watch this...it just doesn't look like your everyday average run-o-the-mill home video. This looks like..maybe an HBO or ESPN short or something like that....
Anybody else get that vibe......??? Just can't believe it's the HV20...wow.

The footage looks great. How was the camera mounted? I didnt see any wobble that many complain about.

WOW!
Definately very nice footage.......professional looking!
Yeah, if you can ever get any footage out of the HDMI port that is full 1920x1080, we would all like to see that!

Thanks for the compliment. The camera was mounted in my hands, actually. I shot it all handheld. I couldn't get any sticks into this area.

Great footage :hv20-smilie77:. Just a quick question how much footage did you record on the day to make your clip after editing......

I shot 30 minutes of footage in total. Much of it was redundant material of the cars whizzing by. The pit is actually not the best location to shoot this material since there are tall barriers to protect the crews and they pass by at 200+ miles per hour.

This is great footage that is nicely edited.
And everything is shot handheld.
