Has anyone tried using Vegas to render their films to an iPod?
There is a MainConcept AVC/AAC (mp4) codec which allows you to pick either 320*240 or 640*480 resolution. However when connecting an iPod to my TV there is some bad squared colours showing at 640 res. The kind of thing you see with footage shot on low res camera's.
You can't seem to alter the resolution higher than 640*480 or else the file will no longer copy to the iPod - but I was playing around with the bit rate - increasing it from the 768,000 standard, up to 2 and 4 million. However I'm still getting these blocky colours. All that seems to be changing is the file size increases from about 37 meg to over 200 meg.
There are other options like constant or main profile, variable or constant bit rate. Does anyone have any advice on how to get the best quality film? On the iPod display it's looks great (albeit small) whatever you do, but I'd like to get it so it looked as good as possible when plugged into a TV (Talking SD as my TV isn't HD)
