bluegrass

I was just trying to think of a way to set up one thread for any footage i decide to post a link to now and in the future, rather than keep starting a new thread. This is the result of that brain wrenching thinking. I aptly titled the thread "Bluegrass's stuff". Hope that's OK. When i think i have something someone might enjoy viewing or maybe even learn a little from it, I will post it on this thread. If you have your forum configured like I do - latest at the top, than it is easy to see the latest post or comments.
Let me start it off by posting a link to a some clips I shot this past Saturday night at an outdoor patio of a local St.Louis brewery. I only had two beers through the whole shoot, so I don't think it affected my shoot too much. I shot in 60i HDV. I believe I was in TV mode. The important thing to learn from this though is that I am finally figuring out how to get the audio from a subject in a crowded noisy envirenment like bars and bar patios tend to be. I managed to get a seat about 10 feet in front of the stage and off to the side a little. I did have to put up with the sun off to the left of the stage while I was to the right of the stage. I installed my cinetic matte whatever with the french whatever till the sun went down. the biggie here, which saved the day was, i brought my mic stand and mic along with a 25' & 50' (didn't need the 50') XLR cable and set the stand up right in front of the speaker. Had I not done this the audience chatter would have easily overwhelmemed the internal mic's ability to pick up the music. The first clip is pretty decent because of the sun just setting. It was getting dark on the second clip and I was having some problems managing the controls to keep the subject very bright. They finally turned on some lights but that was later. Actually on the second clip, you can litterly see it getting darker as the song progresses.
These two clips or rendered to 640 X 480 at high bit rates. They will stream if you have a fast Internet connection and wait for the buffering. I promise I will try and keep a log of some of the setting as I post more clip links. I know that is the important part of our ability to learn from other peoples videos. Keeping a journal would be helpful for me too.
