Hi all

*Complete Newbie alert*

My laptop spec's are :

*Intel Core Duo 2 T5500
*1.66 GHz, 667MHz FSB, 2MB L2 cache
*Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
*512MB DDR2 dual channel
*DVD Super Multi double layer
*80GB HDD (small i guess, but i also have an external)

My question is, is this basic set-up adequate for reasonable HV20 editing ?

It has no firewire, but i can get that through a PCII card right ?

Already been editing AVI movie files taken with a Fuji F30 Stills cam via Windows Movie Maker and it does a good job on these.. Jumping to a HV20, will i still be ok with this Laptop..? (i'll probably use Sony Vegas for editing)

Thanks all...

You will need more memory for smooth editing.

I'm also editing on my notebook and it works fine. But you'll have to invest in RAM first. If you're going to edit in HDV make sure you have at least 2GB of RAM. When you're running Vista I recommend 3GB, because Vista really loves RAM.

I would also suggest to use an external 7200rpm Harddisk for capturing. Your CPU is fine but your graphics card is not. Therefore I suggest Sony Vegas as your editing and capturing tool, since it mostly depends on the CPU rather than the graphics card.

Good luck :)

Sawadee-khap, LannaThai!

I hope based on your handle you'll post some footage from the 'Land of Smiles' ... I miss Chiang Mai ...
