View Full Version : Really cheap covers over DV HDMI / Mic AV

I like the performance of my HV20, but the 2 covers over the DV HDMI and MIC AV ports has to be the cheapest covers I have seen. They look like they are just waiting to break off. They don't move far enough when you open them to use the ports easily with out stressing the "hinge". The covers on my old Sony DCR-TRV315 at least were rubber and not a very cheap feeling plastic.

Ok... enough venting. Has anyone here owned a HV20 long enough to know how durable these port covers are?

Thanks

Yeah, these covers are really not the best solution. In a few month they will be so worn out that IŽll need duct tape to fix them.

The EOS400D by Canon is similar, but here I can just remove the CF card and put it in a card reader to get my pics. I think HDV tape readers are not available for 10€.

Back in year 2000 when I own my very first digital still camera, it's a Canon G1. People's been complaining about the flimsy USB cover, the same type Canon use in HV20, but I never heard of any single case the USB cover broke apart.

It would be nice if the covers were a bit beefier. But I suspect with a little care, they'll last a long time.
